The project in short

We renovated a back garden, turning an overgrown plot into a fresh, practical outdoor space for our customer to enjoy. The photos show the garden before, then a levelled sand base with grey edging and the walls and trellis in place, and finally the finished lawn with a paved path and planting. We posted it on our Facebook page on 14 August 2026. This is an example job: we do not publish customers' names or addresses.

Before, during and after

Before

Overgrown, with bare patches and nowhere to sit.

An overgrown garden with weeds, bare patches and a sun lounger.
The same garden from further back, with shrubs growing at the far end.
Looking across the garden, thick with plants, with a garden building at the right.

During

Cleared, levelled and edged.

The ground cleared and levelled, with a sand base laid and grey edging boards around it.
The painted wall and trellis in place while the sand base waits for the lawn.

After

The finished garden.

A green lawn with a paved path along the house wall.
A painted white wall with timber trellis above it and an olive tree in the corner.
The path and planting along the side, with rosemary at the front.
The back of the house, with the lawn and the path running to the door.

Starting with an overgrown garden

Before anything new goes in, an overgrown garden has to be cleared back to the ground. In the first photos the weeds, shrubs and bare patches fill the whole plot, so the ground had to be cleared and levelled before the new surface could be built.

The second set of photos shows that stage: a clean sand base with edging boards marking out the lawn.

Edges, walls and trellis

A garden looks finished when its edges are. In these photos grey edging boards hold the lawn in, the wall behind it is painted and a timber trellis raises the height of the boundary, with planting in front.

We also build decking, paving and fences. See our landscaping page and our fencing page.
